The Master, Mr John Barber was delighted to welcome over 100 Guild members and their guests to his first Black Tie Reception & Dinner in the magnificent Grocers’ Hall.  The Worshipful Company of Grocers is one of the Twelve Great Livery Companies of the City and ranks second in order of precedence of 1515.

After a sparkling wine reception in The Piper Room a delicious 3-course dinner was served in the Livery Hall.  Following the Loving Cup ceremony with probably the largest loving cups the Guild has ever used, members and their guests were entertained by an amusing speech by The Right Honourable Dame Eleanor Laing, Member of Parliament for Epping Forest, Deputy Speaker for the House of Commons and a personal friend of the Master.

The Master thanked Dame Eleanor for once again supporting the Guild and presented her with a book entitled “101 interesting things you have not done in London” before wishing everyone a safe journey home.
