What happens next?

We consider membership applications every two weeks.

Every applicant is advised of the outcome within a few days of the application being submitted to the Court.

Successful applicants are invited to participate in the Joining and Welcoming Ceremony, which takes place at Tallow Chandlers' Hall during a Court Meeting. Many new members then continue their celebrations by attending the dinner which follows.

We send new members the latest edition of The Freeman (the Guild's journal) and an invitation to take part in forthcoming events. The complete cycle does not usually take more than a month.

""The Guild was formed in 1908 for all fellow Freemen of the City of London – today we number almost 1,600 members from all backgrounds, and from a wide range of professions. In addition, our Annual Programme is the City’s most extensive. It features events with privileged access for Members and their guests, ranging from opportunities to dine in London’s finest Livery Halls, to less formal activities. Our Annual Banquet is a highlight of the Guild’s calendar and attracts members from all over the world.
