The Master welcomed 100 Guild members and their guests to historic Skinners' Hall. Dating back to 1670 one of the remarkable features of the Great Hall is an exquisite silver display case, coats of arms and large panels painted by Sir Frank William Brangwyn. In these lovely surroundings the Master was delighted to welcome Colonel Jane Davis OBE, QVRM, TD, DL, RGN as his guest speaker. Col Davis is a fellow Deputy Lieutenant and is newly appointed as Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London. She spoke about her life as a nurse and Army reservist, culminating in her appointmend as Colonel Commandant Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps.
After a sparkling reception we enjoyed a fine dining three-course meal with wine; we also enjoyed music from the Milton Court String Quartert (students of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama) as they played throughout the evening. We were joined by many new members who continued their celebrations by attending this lovely dinner after the welcoming ceremony earlier in the evening. Photos of the evening can be found here.
