“A veritable tour de force” “stunning atmosphere” “seriously impressive food” “spectacular” “highlight of a fantastic year” “a truly stunning and memorable evening” …just some of the wonderful compliments we have received after the Guild’s Banquet at Guildhall last week. We are privileged to have access to such a magnificent venue for this wonderful evening of pageantry. We welcomed the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, the Sheriffs and Consorts and the Lord Mayor of the City of York. The Master's speaker was the Rt Hon Lord Justice Haddon-Cave. The Master presented a cheque for £2000 to the Lord Mayor for his charity appeal, and a cheque for £35,000 to Governor Emily Thomas of HMP ISIS. This was the proceeds of his and Emma’s “Waterloo to Waterloo” cycle ride (which many Guild members donated to) bringing the total raised in his Shrieval year and Master’s year to over £100,000. There were 511 people at the Banquet this year and everyone who wanted to come got a place. Make a diary note – Friday 4th December 2020 and we’ll do it all again! ""The Guild was formed in 1908 for all fellow Freemen of the City of London – today we number almost 1,600 members from all backgrounds, and from a wide range of professions. In addition, our Annual Programme is the City’s most extensive. It features events with privileged access for Members and their guests, ranging from opportunities to dine in London’s finest Livery Halls, to less formal activities. Our Annual Banquet is a highlight of the Guild’s calendar and attracts members from all over the world.
