The delayed Installation on 30th June was an opportunity to thank Immediate Past Master Neil Redcliffe for his superb year as Master and belatedly present him with his Illuminated Address.

Under his leadership the Guild of Freemen of the City of London has strengthened all three strands of our Guild purpose: our social dimension, our charitable giving and our support for the City and the Freedom.

His social programme was hailed with enthusiasm and celebrated his wide-ranging interests, from Livery silver in the vaults at Drapers’ Hall to the soaring strains of the Nordic Choir at St Stephen Walbrook. On our travels, we shared adventures ranging from a donkey journey in the Atlas Mountains to a miniature train ride at the National Railway Museum in York. You welcomed us to your home with generous hospitality, with Emma, as ever, smiling by your side.

Your commitment to charitable giving included raising £35,000 for the Sheriffs’ and Recorder’s Fund by taking part in the Inter Livery Cycle Challenge. The presentation of the proceeds was one of many highlights of our Guildhall Banquet, widely acclaimed as a triumph.

""The Guild was formed in 1908 for all fellow Freemen of the City of London – today we number almost 1,600 members from all backgrounds, and from a wide range of professions. In addition, our Annual Programme is the City’s most extensive. It features events with privileged access for Members and their guests, ranging from opportunities to dine in London’s finest Livery Halls, to less formal activities. Our Annual Banquet is a highlight of the Guild’s calendar and attracts members from all over the world.
