The Master would like to congratulate Guild member Michael Lyons who has been awarded an MBE for services to the community of Bexley and Barnehurst in the Queen’s birthday Honours List. He stands out for his consistent and sustained support of charity and giving back to the community throughout his entire professional career, which spans just over 50 years.
He has donated £75,000 to various charities over the years. His activities to help others have ranged from completing in 25 arduous sponsored cycle rides to producing a regular newsletter for the business community in his local area to provide support to SMEs and start-up entrepreneurs as well as established business leaders.
His work for charities has also seen him devote significant time to the Freemasons and the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT) – one of the livery companies of the City of London. He also supports the Barge Masters and is involved in the processional flotilla of traditional Thames rowing boats for incoming Lord Mayors of the City of London at the annual Lord Mayor’s Show.

Our Annual Banquet is a highlight of the Guild’s calendar and attracts members from all over the world.
