Loughborough Bell Foundry - Visit + Pub Lunch

Thursday 21st May 2026

Start: 1.00pm | Finish: 4.00pm approx.

WAIT LIST ONLY

For those Guild members who are campanologists, or who have an interest in campanology, a visit to John Taylor’s Loughborough Bell Foundry will be on your bucket list.  Step into the UK’s last working bell foundry, where history and craftsmanship come alive. Since 1859, over 25,000 bells that chime from towers in over 100 countries have been cast at this iconic Grade II* listed site.

Discover the magic of bell founding with an immersive museum experience and a guided tour that takes you behind the scenes of a working bell foundry.  Unearth the rich history and time-honoured techniques that have defined this craft for generations. We will be lucky to witness on our tour the casting of a bell.  The birth of a bell from hot molten metal is a remarkable sight.  This is your chance to experience the story of bells like never before.

After the tour we will have a late lunch at The Three Nunns, which is a short walk from the bell foundry.
