Glasgow Trip

Thursday 1st October 2026 - Saturday 3rd October 2026

The Master has arranged a short trip to Glasgow for the Deacon’s Choosing Dinner of the Incorporation of Wrights in Glasgow, in the magnificent setting of Glasgow Trades Hall, the home of The Trades House of Glasgow; this is a charity that has been part of the city since 1605 and is home to the fourteen Craft Incorporations of Glasgow.  The Master is a Past Deacon of the Incorporation of Wrights, and he plans to show you some of the cultural sights of Glasgow.

Whist in Glasgow we will enjoy a tour of Trades Hall and visit Glasgow City Chambers, home to Glasgow City Council, which is one of the most beautiful civic buildings found anywhere in the UK, and boasts “more marble than the Vatican.”  It has its own Statue of Liberty (the Statue of Truth) rising from the central apex of the façade.

We will also explore the works of Charles Rennie Macintosh, the famous Scottish architect, designer, water colourist and artist and many other Glasgow highlights
