Cutlers' Hall Black Tie Dinner

Tuesday 27th October 2026

Start: 6.45pm | Finish: 10.30pm

Following the new members’ Admission Ceremony, we will hold a Reception and Black-Tie Dinner at Cutlers’ Hall, one of the most ancient livery companies in the City of London, having received its first Royal Charter from Henry V in 1416.  We will dine in the Livery Hall, which is renowned for its Victorian hammer beam roof.  Mounted high on the end wall above the canopy hangs a Barge Banner used for the Lord Mayor’s procession in 1763, and adorning the walls shields are displayed which were carried by the members of the Court in the Lord Mayor’s Procession in 1834, and again in 1984.  Behind the Master’s Chair, which dates from at least the early 18th century, is a wooden canopy surmounted by the Royal Coat of Arms.  This represents the Stuart Arms and is believed to date from about 1670-88.  The Cutlers' Company was a trade guild whose members produced items with a cutting edge, such as swords, knives and surgical instruments.

As an encouragement for Guild Members to dine in the magnificent Cutlers’ Hall, the Master has arranged for a musical performance by renowned world music pianist and composer Rekesh Chauhan BEM.  Rekesh is a multi-award winning British Indian pianist and composer.  His unique blend of Eastern and Western musical styles on the piano and in his compositions has earned him widespread acclaim.  As part of the evening, Rekesh will give a brief talk on his passion for music, his fusion style, and his perspective on music as “medicine for the mind.”

Come and join us for this incredibly special event - you will be in for a real musical treat with a difference.
