The HAC is the oldest regiment in the British Army. It provides the ceremonial bodyguard to the Lord Mayor of the City of London. As an Alderman, the Master is an “ex officio” member of the Court of Assistants. The regiment began in 1537 and still retains an active unit in today’s Army Reserve.
The guided visit will be to Armoury House, the regimental HQ just to the north of the City and will be given by members of the Pikemen and Musketeers, the main ceremonial sub-units.
A private lunch will be included at the House in the Queen's Room and will incorporate both groups attending, both morning and afternoon.
The tours will start with a presentation on the history of the House and regiment. They will include visits to the Armoury, where there will be an opportunity to handle a pike and musket (correctly!) and try on armour! Each tour will end with a visit to the wonderful museum where a glass of bubbly will be offered
Events 61 and 6b will be identical, a morning tour followed by a three-course lunch with wine and coffee in the Queen’s Room, or lunch followed by an afternoon tour.
