The Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey) is recognised as the most famous criminal court in the world, owned by the City of London Corporation, it is truly a home from home for our Master, who worked and lived there whilst serving as Sheriff of the City of London. During his year in office (2017-18), the Master hosted numerous guests at the Old Bailey – including members of the Guild on two separate occasions – and led well over forty tours of this fascinating and iconic building. The Guild’s visit will begin with a drinks reception before the Master slips on his guiding shoes once more for a fun and informative tour that takes us from the stunning Great Hall to the sombre atmosphere of the holding cells, via Court Room 1 - scene of some of British justices most important and infamous trials. We will be extremely fortunate to have not one, but two guides intimately acquainted with the work of the Old Bailey, as the Master is joined by His Honour Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC, The Recorder of London.

Following the tour we will enjoy drinks, canapes and bowl food in the Great Hall before carriages at 9.30pm.

This event follows our welcoming ceremony for new members, who may wish to continue their celebrations by attending this lovely visit.
