Reception and Supper Barber Surgeons' Hall

Wednesday 10th April 2019

Start: 7.30 pm | Finish: 10.00 pm

This event has passed

The Master is delighted to hold his first black tie dinner at Barber Surgeons' Hall. The beautifully laid out red-brick hall is the third incarnation of the original hall on this site, standing alongside the remains of the Roman-built London Wall. Japanese oak panelling and Barbers’ Company treasures are on display and there is a stunning terrace overlooking an historic herb garden. In pride of place in the Great Hall rests Holbein’s 1541/2 depiction of “King Henry VIII & The Barber-Surgeons”. One of the largest oil portraits of King Henry VIII still remaining, the painting is of national importance, and offers a wonderful backdrop to celebrations in the Great Hall.

The Master and his guest speaker, His Honour Nicholas Cooke QC (former Old Bailey judge), will welcome you at a sparkling reception, before making your way into the Great Hall where we will enjoy a fine dining three-course dinner with wine, followed by the Loving Cup Ceremony, port and speeches. Nicholas Cooke will speak on bribery and corruption.

This event follows our welcoming ceremony for new members, who may wish to continue their celebrations by attending this lovely dinner.
