Burns Night Supper at Leathersellers' Hall

Wednesday 22nd January 2020

Start: 7.00 pm | Finish: 10.30 pm

As former Alderman for Bishopsgate, the Master has built a strong relationship with the Leathersellers company over the years and has secured a unique opportunity for the Guild to hold its Burn’s Night Supper at Leathersellers’ Hall. He invites you to join him for a dinner to celebrate the birthday of Robert Burns at a Livery Hall not usually offered for outside hire.  Robbie, or Rabbie, Burns - poet, ploughman, humanitarian, champion of the working man and a great believer in the rights of women - was widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland, as a pioneer of the Romantic movement and, after his death, became a source of inspiration to the founders of both liberalism and socialism, and a cultural icon in Scotland and amongst Scots people around the world. He is also remembered every New Year’s Eve, or Hogmanay, when his poem ‘Auld Lang Syne’ is sung.

The programme is being finalised, but the evening will include a piper, the parade of the haggis, address to the haggis, supper and traditional toasts. And, of course, a wee dram or two …
