For the highlight of the Guild's year, the Annual banquet will again be held in the magnificent medieval surroundings of Guildhall, watched over by Gog and Magog. Members and their guests will be welcomed by the Master before enjoying a sparkling reception in the Old Library interrupted by the fanfare as our Patron the Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress accompanied by the Sheriffs and their consorts arrive to join us. The formal announcement will then lead onto a sumptuous four-course dinner accompanied by excellent wines. The whole event will be one of colour and pageantry provided by the Pikemen and Musketeers from the Honourable Artillery Company, a wonderful selection of music, including the rousing Post Horn Galop, and finally high-profile guest-speakers, all combining to show off the City, Guildhall and the Guild at their very best.
The Master is delighted to announce that while we would prefer gentlemen to wear white tie, black tie will be acceptable. We hope this will make the banquet accessible to many more members and their guests.
The date was selected in consultation with the Lord Mayor Nominate, Alderman William Russell, and we are delighted and honoured that he will be joining us at Guildhall. For many of us, a Friday Banquet will provide a relaxed start the following day and a great opportunity to spend a festive weekend in London, whether for shopping or taking in a show.
