Annual Service at St Paul's Cathedral
4 May 2005
The Guild held its Annual Service at 6.00pm on Wednesday 4th May in the Chapel of St Faith in St Paul's Cathedral. 153 Guild members and their guests attended, and it was a pleasure to be looked after by a number of Wandsmen who are also Guild members.
It was a great sadness that the Master, Mr Leslie Lewis, was unable to be present due to illness. Everyone took the opportunity to wish him a complete and speedy recovery.
The Service was led by the Reverend Canon Martin Warner, the Canon Pastor; he very kindly represented the Guild's Honorary Chaplain, the Dean of St Paul's, who was leading a pilgrimage to Turkey at the time. The lessons were read by the Senior Past Master, Mr Harold Gould, OBE, and the Senior Warden, Mrs Barbara Newman, CBE, and the Guild was honoured and delighted that the choir of King Edward's School Witley was able to participate once again - for the third consecutive year.
It is a great privilege to be able to hold our Annual Service in St Paul's Cathedral, and it is an added bonus that such a talented group of musicians as the choir of King Edward's School support the occasion so magnificently. There is no doubt that everyone who came rejoiced in the magnificence of the occasion.
