Reception & Dinner - Grocers' Hall
Wednesday 27 February 2013
Dress: Black Tie
The Grocers' Company is ranked number 2 in the order of precedence of the City Livery Companies. Founded in 1345 by 22 members of the ancient Guild of Pepperers, the Grocers Company bought a family mansion and garden in Old Jewry in 1426 to set up its hall. The present, beautifully designed hall, full of traditional features, is the fifth hall to stand on this site, and it houses the Company's wonderful collection of treasures, which is still being actively added to today. This wonderful hall has been chosen by the Master as the setting for her final dinner. The evening will comprise a traditional Livery-style reception and dinner, and a specially selected guest speaker to round off the Master's year in office.
